Global Tipping Points Report 2023

Global Tipping Points is a report, led by the University of Exeter’s Global Systems Institute and funded by the Bezos Earth Fund, that identifies negative and positive tipping points with regards to ongoing global crises. According to the report, the existence of negative tipping points shows that the threats posed by the current crises we are experiencing are more severe than is commonly understood and of a magnitude higher than humanity has ever experienced before. These negative tipping points are offset, to some degree, by the potential for change offered by positive tipping points available to us in the near-future, should we act to achieve them. The report examines these tipping points through 4 main sections: Earth system tipping points; tipping point impacts; governance of Earth system tipping points; and positive tipping points in technology, economy, and society.
